Meet our new Research Officer... Dr Frank Ashwood

As an Environmental Scientist at Forest Research, Frank provides specialist expertise on soil sustainability through research into woodland soil quality and soil ecology. Frank is particularly interested in the interactions between soil physical, chemical and biological quality and woodland ecology and ecosystem service delivery.

Dr Frank AshwoodHis PhD was with the Earthworm Research Group at the University of central Lancashire and considered the effects of organic waste materials and earthworm activity on reclaimed soil quality and development, and tree growth on reclaimed land.

Frank's role with the ESB will be to work with research institutions to incorporate their earthworm species records into the National Earthworm Recording Scheme database and advise the ESB with regards to earthworm science and ecology. You can follow Frank on Twitter at @FrankAshwood

And in his spare time, Frank is also an active earthworm recorder!
