Darwin Day, High Elms Park, 22 November 2009
The Earthworm Society of Britain attended a Darwin Day at High Elms country park (pictures below). This fun family event was held to celebrate Charles Darwin's life and work. There were lots of activities for people to get involved in, including fossil making and a live reptile show.
The ESB had a stand with some microscopes so people could take a close-up look at earthworms. We encouraged people to have a go at collecting earthworms in the grounds using the fork twanging method. Lots of people also had a go at identifying the earthworms that we collected using the OPAL field key.
The event was a great success and about 150 people attended. For more information about High Elms Park, visit their website.
